The Great Arizona Puppet Theater will be having its Halloween-themed Puppet Slam, titled “Dr Zombie’s Puppet Slam of Terror.” There will be two shows taking place on Friday, Oct. 14th and Saturday, Oct. 15th. Both shows will be 18+, with the Puppet Slams being targeted at GAPT’s more mature audience.
“It’ll be fun for all cadavers!” according to “Dr. Zombie,” who will be hosting the show.
This is not the character’s first appearance. Created and played by Tommy Cannon, Dr. Zombie is a mad scientist; however, this does not pay the bills, and thus, he supplements his income with monster family psychiatry and stand-up comedy. He has performed on Phoenix Tonight, as well as having a series of online comics and even a card game.
With this show being during Halloween season, guests can expect a blend of horror and comedy elements in this “Puppet Slam of Terror.” Along with GAPT’s recurring performers, guest performers will also be showcasing their own experimental pieces.
Puppet Slams are an ongoing and fairly new tradition in the world of puppetry, being recognized by the Jim Henson Foundation and performed nationwide. GAPT was at the forefront of the Puppet Slam movement, and is eager to return to regular Slams following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tickets are available at $20 per person. To pay ahead and reserve your spot, visit azpuppets.org or call 602-262-2050
