How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
CRYSTAL: 2 boys, ages 6 & 11
How long have you lived in Phoenix? What made you decide to live here?
CRYSTAL: My husband and I are both natives, but what keeps us here is our family and our jobs!
How did Copper Valley Metal Works Come About? Tell us about what you do.
CRYSTAL: Copper Valley Metal Works started after a long time coming. For years, my husband Ryan and I had been really super interested in getting a cnc plasma table. We did a lot of research and got really into it and knew it was something we would be passionate about. We moved forward with getting the table and started making some pretty cool stuff! Ryan does the design work in a CAD program which then communicates to the table and then cuts what was designed. Anything from home decor to shooting targets…it’s really up to the customer to let us know what they are looking for.
What is your favorite part of what you guys do?
CRYSTAL: I I love to see our customers faces when they pick up their items. We are very meticulous of the things we make, so it’s cool to see that they see it too.
As a mompreneur, how do you handle the toggle between work (and working with your hubby!) and the kiddos?
CRYSTAL: I won’t lie, there can be struggles. But that’s all growing pains and we’ve worked through them. There’s a state of mind that we started this and we want this and we’ve got each others backs. As far as the workload, the table is in our shop at home, it’s really not that bad. As long as one of us keeps an eye on the kids we are good!
What is your favorite activity to do in Phoenix?
Off-roading and we love exploring Northern Arizona any chance we get.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
CRYSTAL: I’m a pretty outgoing and loud person… so I’m not sure on this one. I’m an open book!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
CRYSTAL: Our parents, they have always played a huge part in the kids lives. Both mine, and Ryan’s parents lived in Arizona until about a year ago. We’ve had HUGE support from our family with the kids and just having family time all together. Ryan’s parents relocated to Idaho last year, but there’s still trips back and forth. And the kids will stay up there for a couple weeks during the summer. My parents are really close by, so they want the kids for movie and lunch days or sleep overs. We are all pretty close and the kids are SO loved by both sides.
